  • Great scent throw.
  • Comes in flake form which makes it easy to measure and dispense.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 16F - 180°F.  Add fragrance and dye, stir thoroughly.

Properties Melt Point: 134°F - 140°F
Flash Point: >600°F
Description This soybean / vegetable wax blend is a single pour wax that is designed to release from the walls of votive molds.  Although the C-3 container wax (above) is the preferred wax for containers, the V-1 votive wax may also be used in the manufacture of container candles, although it will set up much harder than the C-3 container wax and will likely require you to up-size your wick when using in a container.  This wax should not be used in the manufacture of pillar candles.
Benefits
  • All natural!!
  • A TRUE single pour wax when used properly.
  • Holds average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6% is typical.
  • Exhibits good mold release when used properly.
  • Very good burn characteristics.
  • Great scent throw.
  • Comes in flake form which makes it easy to measure and dispense.

  • Allow to cool.  You may place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.
  • Different wicks may be needed depending on dye/fragrance combination.  The CD & ECO  wick lines have been found to work well.

IGI-4627 (Comfort Blend)

Product Type Container Candle Blend
Properties Melt Point: 125°F
Flash Point: >375°F
Description A smooth, creamy, true single pour wax that is specially designed for the manufacture of container candles.
Benefits
  • A TRUE single pour wax when used properly.
  • Holds above average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6 to 10% is typical.
  • Exhibits good adhesion to glass containers when used properly.
  • Very good burn characteristics.
  • Great scent throw.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 175°F - 185°F.  Add fragrance and dye, stir thoroughly, then pour.
  • Preheat glass containers to 125°F - 149°F to allow for better side adhesion.
  • Allow to cool as slowly as possible.  Do not place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.
  • Different wicks may be needed depending on dye/fragrance combination.  The HTP wicks have been found to work well.
Special Note This wax is one of the best single pour waxes we've seen before.  However, it is so soft and creamy that it can be a little messier to use than some of the other waxes since you have to scoop it out of the box rather than separating slabs of wax.  The overwhelming response of our customers has been that the superior results of this product are worth the extra effort to use it.  We just wanted to let you know so you can make an informed decision!

IGI-4786

Product Type Container Candle Blend
Properties Melt Point: 124°F
Flash Point: 380°F

  • Holds above average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6 to 10% is typical.
  • Exhibits good adhesion to glass containers.
  • Very good burn characteristics.
  • Great scent throw.
  • Tends to require a bit less liquid dye than a "one-pour" type container wax like the J-50.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 160°F - 170°F.  Add fragrance and dye, stir thoroughly, then pour.
  • Preheat glass containers to allow for better side adhesion.
  • Allow to cool as slowly as possible.  Do not place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.

IGI-4794

Product Type Votive Candle Blend
Properties Melt Point: 128°F
Flash Point: 400°F
Description Special blend designed for the manufacture of votive candles.
Benefits
  • Smooth, glossy finish.
  • Good mold release.
  • Holds average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6% is  typical.
  • Very good burn characteristics.
  • Great scent throw.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 165°F - 185°F.  Add fragrance and dye, stir thoroughly then pour.
  • Clean molds always produce the best results.
  • You will need to save some wax to use for the 2nd pour.  After the first pour, allow candles to cool almost completely, then come back and top them off with the saved wax.
  • You may accelerate the cooling process by placing the mold(s) into a water bath or the refrigerator.

IGI-4625

Product Type Pillar Candle Blend
Properties Melt Point: 14F
Flash Point: 400°F
Description Special blend designed for the manufacture of pillar candles.
Benefits
  • Smooth, glossy finish.
  • Good mold release.
  • Holds average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6% is typical.
  • Very good burn characteristics.
  • Good scent throw.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 175°F - 185°F.  Add fragrance and dye, stir thoroughly, then pour.
  • Clean molds always produce the best results.
  • You will need to save some wax for the 2nd pour.  As the wax from the 1st pour is cooling, you will need to periodically poke relief holes in the candle (about the size of a dime near the wick should be sufficient).  This reduces pressure that is built up inside the candle as the wax contracts.  If you do not perform this step, the finished candle will likely have a void in the middle.
  • Once the first pour has cooled nearly completely, top the candle off with the 2nd pour.  Because this wax needs to contract to come out of the mold, once the candle has cooled, there will be a small space in between the candle and the mold.  DO NOT pour the 2nd pour any higher than the original pour or wax will seep down into that space which makes the candle not so pretty and very difficult to get out of the mold.
  • When pouring large pillars, the same process may need to be repeated again with a 3rd pour.
  • You may accelerate the cooling process by placing the mold(s) into a water bath or refrigerator.

 IGI-4761

Product Type Low Shrink Votive Candle Blend
Properties Melt Point: 159°F
Flash Point: 400°F
Description Special low-shrink blend designed specifically for the manufacture of votive candles.
Benefits
  • Low shrinkage requires only one pour!
  • Great mold release.
  • Holds average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6% is typical.
  • Good burn characteristics.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 180°F - 185°F.  Add fragrance and dye, stir thoroughly then pour.
  • Clean molds always produce the best results.
  • You may accelerate the cooling process by placing the mold(s) into a water bath or refrigerator.

Special Note

  • Although this wax is considered a "one-pour" votive wax, we are not stating that it does not shrink at all.  The top of the votive will have a slightly concaved shape.  Another difference with this wax is that you are usually unable to achieve the smooth glossy finish that you can with other waxes.  Many customers find the end product is still high quality and really appreciate the time they save by pouring only once.  Other chandlers are a bit "pickier" about the look of their candles and choose to spend a little more time using the IGI-4794.  On the other hand, many of our customers like the convenience of being able to make pillars and votives right out of the same batch, so they choose the Astorlite 6228/1.  We stock many types to give our customers the chance to decide what's best for them!

  • Clean molds always produce the best results.
  • You may accelerate the cooling process by placing the mold(s) into a water bath or refrigerator.

IGI-1274

Product Type Mottling Wax for Pillars & Votives
Properties Melt Point: 140°F
Flash Point: 400°F

  • Good mold release.
  • Good burn characteristics.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 180°F - 185°F.  Add fragrance & dye (if desired) and stir thoroughly, then pour.
  • Clean molds always produce the best results.
  • You may accelerate the cooling process by placing the mold(s) into a water bath or refrigerator, although the mottling may be improved by slowing the cooling process.
  • Avoid contact with other waxes, additives, etc. as they may contaminate the mottling effect.

IGI-1343

Product Type Cut and Carve Pillar Blend
Properties Melt Point: 138°F
Flash Point: 400°F
Description A fully refined wax suitable for pillar and other molded candles as well as "cut and carve" candles.
Benefits
  • Not as brittle as a typical paraffin wax, making it suitable for "cut and carve" applications.
  • Fragrance oil retention of 3% is  typical.  Higher fragrance loads may require the use of additives.
  • Good mold release.
  • Good burn characteristics.
  • Even shrinkage, without cracking or spotting.

General Guidelines

  • Use this product as supplied or as a base wax in combination with additives for pillar and molded candle applications.
  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to 180°F - 185°F.  Add fragrance & dye (if desired) and stir thoroughly, then pour.
  • Clean molds always produce the best results.
  • You may accelerate the cooling process by placing the mold(s) into a water bath or refrigerator.

IGI-2281

Product Type Straight paraffin for Containers
Properties Melt Point: 123°F
Flash Point: 400°F
Description A replacement for the old IGI 941, this soft wax is designed for use in the manufacture of mottled container candles, or can be used to achieve a smooth look with the addition of additives such as Vybar 260.
Benefits
  • Very little shrinkage occurs which means that a re-pour is usually not necessary (when no additives are used and wax is poured at 150°F or below.)
  • Fragrance oil retention of 3% is  typical.  Higher fragrance loads may be achievable with the use of additives although you should be aware that the use of additives will diminish the "mottled" look.
  • Good scent throw.
  • Good burn characteristics.

General Guidelines

  • Heat wax in a double-boiler system to approx. 150°F.  Add fragrance & dye (if desired) and stir thoroughly, then pour.  Preheat glass containers for better adhesion.
  • To optimize the "mottled" effect, allow to cool as slowly as possible.  Do not place in a water bath or refrigerator to accelerate the cooling process.  Some customers have found that placing the candles in an insulated cooler or box will help slow the cooling process.
  • For a smooth look, rather than the mottled look, add 1/2 tsp of Vybar 260 per pound of melted wax.  You may need to adjust this amount to suit your taste.  The use of Vybar increases shrinkage so re-pouring may become necessary.

  • Holds average amount of fragrance oil.  Fragrance oil retention of 6% is  typical.
  • Good scent throw.
  • Good burn characteristics.
  • Low shrinkage means that a re-pour is usually not required.
